You booked a session with me, now let’s talk about some ‘what to wear’ tips! I’m going to keep it pretty simple and give you my Top 3 tips that make a huge difference when preparing for your senior portrait session with me.
1.VARIETY: Pick up to 3-4 outfits for our session together. I recommend picking a variety of different looks for your session. Mix it up with dresses, skirts, jeans, rompers, vests, jackets. Don’t be afraid to play with different colors or textures (e.g., plaid, patterns). I usually recommend picking a couple casual outfits, a fun/trendy outfit, and then also a more classic (parent-approved!) outfit.
Bonus tip: Please make sure your clothes are wrinkle free! Unfortunately, I have seen some super cute outfits ruined by wrinkles. I recommend ironing your clothing (if needed) and keeping your clothing on hangers prior to our session together.
2. ACCESSORIZE and LAYER! If your session is in the summer, a cute hat or flower crown is the perfect accessory that can give your outfit a variety of different looks. Or if your session is in the fall, layering is fun and looks great on camera. Boys can layer shirts, sweaters, or puffy vests. Girls you can layer with cardigans, a cute jacket, a statement necklace, or scarves are a great option too. Don’t forget to mix it up with some fun shoes shoes too!
3.HAIR AND MAKEUP: Girls, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hair and makeup done for our session together. It is the final touch that, in my opinion, will take your senior photos from good to ah-maaazing! You won’t regret this, promise. I mean who doesn’t love to pamper themselves once in a while?! Side note: I have a lot of girls who don’t usually wear a lot of makeup (if any) and are hesitant to get their hair and makeup done because they want to make sure they look like themselves. But I partner with a professional hair/makeup artist who will come to your home and make it easy for you. She does airbrush makeup so it looks very soft and natural. She is a lot of fun to work with and she can apply the make-up as light or as heavy as you want it. And if you prefer using your own hair/makeup person, that’s great too!
